SCB [Standard Chartered Bank] has more than 150 years of history in Asia, including India. It operates on a global basis, but its network is focused on the emerging markets of Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
However, the trend is that large state owned enterprises are no longer looking at just state owned banks for their financing solutions. They are beginning to look at private domestic banks and foreign banks. Standard Chartered has an edge over local state owned banks due to its larger international presence and larger variety of financing options.
