Mr Tan [president and chief executive of Sats] says that companies that want to go overseas need to strengthen their core competencies before venturing abroad, so that “venture partners will see you as a good partner in terms of how much you can contribute to the partnership”.
“The day they see you not contributing, that’s the day they say, ‘time to review our partnership’.”
He adds that before companies expand to overseas markets, “There must be a business case for the expansion.”
